EMDR Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is a trauma-focused therapy that can help you process painful or distressing experiences that continue to impact you in the present.
Sometimes, even if an experience is in the past, it can stick with us. You may notice anxiety, intrusive memories or thoughts, emotional reactivity, or physical sensations when something reminds you of the memory or even something connected to it. EMDR can help your brain process these experiences in a way that help them feel less overwhelming.
EMDR can be helpful for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, grief, and other overwhelming experiences. During EMDR therapy, you’ll begin by building coping and grounding skills. At your pace, you’ll move toward trauma processing. The goal is to help painful memories feel less overwhelming and reduce the emotional and physical reactions to them.
